Central Illinois Speech and Hearing Association (CISHA)

The Central Illinois Speech and Hearing Association, known as CISHA, has been serving the SLP and AuD professionals in Central Illinois since 1987. CISHA has been going strong ever since. Our boards and membership have consisted of SLPs and Auds from Bloomington-Normal and surrounding areas. Members come from the local school districts, the local hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, private practices, and Illinois State University.

It is currently comprised of approximately 40 members with 30% also being members of ISHA. The annual dues are $20 and 2-3 CE opportunities are provided each year in return, along with a couple social events.

We met on September 9th for our fall kick-off (see photo) and discussed programs for the 2024-25 school year. Here’s what’s scheduled or in the works for CISHA in the months ahead.

  1. Artificial Intelligence presented by Daj Mitchell, owner of Co-Treat in Springfield, IL. This will be a virtual presentation from 6-8 pm on Wednesday October 16th where participants will get therapy ideas and learn how to navigate AI tools such as ChatGPT. This event is free for members and $20 for non-members.
  2. Ethics Training – this will be a 1 hour fall event presented by members of CISHA with the date still to be determined. It will fulfill the CE requirement in ethics. This is free for members and $10 for non-members.
  3. Spring CE event still to be determined
  4. Social event at the end of the school year with date still to be determined
