It wouldn’t be a convention coordinator’s column if I didn’t try to use some semantic catch phrase or idea to get your interest! This year, I think “focus” is the best way to capture the work done and being planned for the ISHA 2025 Convention

The Division for Educational Development (DED) committee works to secure speakers, organize events, and coordinate information to bring you the best CE experience possible. As convention coordinator, I am lucky to work with such hard-working ISHA members that focus on the needs of members and efficiency in planning. First, I want to send a thank you to the convention co-chairs. These individuals gather data, listen to members, and organize the chaos into the seamless convention presentation and meeting schedule you will be able to find on the convention app. Ciera Lorio is the current senior co-chair, Elia Olivares is the junior co-chair, and Leah Holman is serving as the past co-chair. This is a busy time for them as they put all the pieces together! Our track chairs in the table below help to secure speakers representing the breadth and depth of speech-language pathology and audiology and review submitted sessions. They play an integral role in bringing the best and newest topics and evidence-based practices to ISHA convention.

ISHA 2025 Convention Track Chairs:

  • Acquired Neurogenic Disorders: Rud Watson
  • Child Language and Phonology: Laurel Teller
  • Dysphagia: Carolyn Lisowski
  • Fluency: Kristin Chmela
  • Multicultural Issues/Bilingual Topics: Juhi Kidwai
  • Professional Affairs: Lynne Cameron
  • Technological Applications: Amy Yacucci
  • Voice and Motor Disorders: Angela Riccelli
  • Educational Audiology / Aural Rehab: Leslie Guca
  • SIRCA: Meredith Saletta Fitzgibbons
  • Student Day Facilitator: Lea Rose Moravec Markham

We rolled out quite a few changes last year, allowing a more centered feel to convention. You will see that again this year, with session rooms, social opportunities, and exhibitors all in one place. The convention has also moved to an all-day Thursday/Friday format based on feedback from ISHA members, with Friday being the focused student day experience alongside several great professional sessions. With the shift in days, Thursday will now be the day to host the awards banquet where we celebrate the many deserving honorees. As has been the tradition for the last few years, the awards banquet will include 1 hour of CE opportunity with a guest speaker. It is sure to be a great celebration and an evening to remember!

Please plan to join us Thursday and Friday, February 6-7, 2025, at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL. Register today!
